Astrick, Astrict, v. Also: astrik, astrek, astreik. [L. astrict- ppl. stem of astringere, whence also e.m.E. astrict (1548).]
1. tr. To bind by a legal or moral obligation. a. In the p.p. (the most frequent use).(a) 1531 Bell. Boece I. 250.
