Oxingate, -gait, n. Also: oxen- and -gat, -gaitt, -geat. [Appar. altered f. Oxingang n., by substitution of Gate n.1; cf. also Oxgate.] = Oxgang n.In the 1627 Rep. Parishes in the parish of Inveresk 4 oxengates are appar. equated with 1 ploughgate.(1) 1580 Edinb. Test. VIII. 89 b.
