ME. pertrik (1388), -ryk, rycke, partrick, ryk (14th c.), after c 1425 appar. only Sc.: cf. OF. pertriz. perdriz (mod. F. perdrix), L. perdix, and Perdrix and Partri(d)g(e. Cf. also Patrik.]
