Quhelm(e, v. [ME and e.m.E. quelm (Cursor M.), whelm (Prompt. Parv.), OE *hwelman. Cf. Quholm v. also Ourquhelm(e v., and Overquhelm(e v.] a. tr. To turn (a wheel) downwards. b. To invert an object by turning its concave side downward, as a cup in order to drain its contents, or a helmet before donning it. c. To fling doun. d. To overpower. = Ourquhelm(e v. e. e. intr.
