Afflict, Afflick, v. [e.m.E. (c 1530), f. L. afflict-, ppl. stem of afflīgere.] tr. To distress, trouble. Also Afflictit ppl. a. —1562-3 Winȝet I. 55/4 (my Catholik afflictit brether). a1578 Pitsc. I. 68/8 (trublit and afflictit). 1619 Garden Elphinston 2317 (this warre, which did afflick).
