Append, v. (apende). [L. appendere. Also in mod.E. from 17th c.] tr. To hang or attach (a seal) to a document. Cf. Appense v.1454 Southesk MSS. 9 (the seile of the schirefedume appendit). 1509–10 Edinb. B. Rec. 129 (to thir lettres our commoun seill we haif gart append). 1611-57 Mure II. 251 (a precept with his seale appended).
