Ourtirve, -tirf(f, v. Also: oure-, owr- and -tyrve, -tirwe, -tyrwe, -tyrf. [Sc. form answering to ME. over-terve (Manning), ovyr-tarve (c 1425), not found after c 1470, f. over adv. (= Over adv. 2) and ME. (c 1400) and e.m.E. (1482, 1567) terve, tirve to turn over or upside down. Cf. Overtirve.] tr. To overturn or throw down. b. fig. To reverse, alter, overthrow. a1400 Leg.
