Teind, Teynd, v. Also: teend, teath. P.t. and p.p. also ten(d)it. [ME and e.m.E. teðien (a1200), tyth(en (Piers Plowman), tieth (1562), teethe (1570); Te(i)nd n.] tr. To assess or take a tithe. a. With reference to Biblical usage. Only in Nisbet after Purvey. b. Of grain crops, etc. Also absol.a. c1520-c1535 Nisbet Luke xi 42.
