Prebendar, n. Also: -are, -air, -er, prebander; Premander. [Sc. form corresp. to late ME and e.m.E. prebendarie (1422), -ary, med. L. prebendarius.]
1. The holder of a prebend.
a. Orig., a canon of a cathedral or a collegiate church who drew his revenues from a prebend. b. Latterly also applied to any person who held the title to, and enjoyed the emoluments of, a prebend.Const. as Prebend n. 1. c1420 Wynt. ix 2977.
