ADHERENCE, n. Sc. law: Of husband or wife, the fulfilment of the legal obligation of residing with wife or husband. An action of adherence might be raised if either spouse persisted in refusing to live with the other.Sc. 1926 Encyc. Laws of Scot. (ed. Wark and Black) I. 114:
