ALLERISH, adj. (See quot.)s.Sc. 1825 Jam.2:
Allerish, chilly, rather cold; as, “an allerish morning”; synon. “a snell morning.”

[Jam. says: “This is undoubtedly the same with Elrische. [See Eldritch.] The sense given above is nearly allied to . . . ‘surly, austere' (meanings he gives for elrische 6), as regarding the temper.” With allerish cf. alriche, Melvill Diary 1598.]
