Also: schundir, -yr, schundr-, schwndir, scho(u)nder, -ir, shunder; sundir, -yr, swndir, sonder, -ir, -yr, -re, sounder, sownder, -ir, ysundir, ysowndir; (schulder, -ir, schuldr-, scholder). [ME and e.m.E. sunder, sundre (both Cursor M.), sonder (Trevisa), OE onsundran, with substitution of in for on. Cf. Asundir adv., Sinder v.] Chiefly in the phrases in (into, to) schunder: Into separate pieces or fragments; in two; apart. Also with pl. inflexion, as quasi-noun.
