Locallie, adv. [Cf. late ME. (c 1430) and e.m.E. localliche, -ly, in other uses.] a. (Assigned, paid) as ‘local stipend’ (Local(l a. 2) or as appointed by a ‘decreet of locality’ (Locality n. 1). b. As a ‘locality’ (Locality n. 2). c. Said of lands and teinds from which compulsory ‘loan’ or troops' ‘maintenance’ is to be levied: (Distributed) district by district, separately in each district (see Locality n. 3). d. (Troops to be quartered) in the various separately allocated districts (see Local(l a. 3, Locality n. 3 b).a. 1633 Acts V. 34/2.
That each heretor … being willing to buy his awin teind frome the titulars having power to sell the same sall be obliged to buy the teinds of his awin lands except soe much as sall be locallie assigned to the minister serving the cure of the kirk for his maintenance Ib. 39/1.
