Abbasy, Abbacy, n. Also: abba(y)sie, abbasij, abasy, pl. abaseis, abesey, abesie, abisie, absay; abbacye, -acie, -ace, abacie, -cye, abecey (pl. -ceis). [med. L. abbacia, abbatia, f. L. abbāt- Abbot. Hence also e.m.E. abbasy (1580), abbacy.] The office or dignity of an abbot; also, an abbey.(a) c1420 Wynt. vii. 723.
