Senis, Seynis, Scheines. Also: Senys, Senyis, Seins, Seanis, Sheins, Sheynes, -is, Cheyn(i)s. [Siena, the Italian town.] Sciennes, the convent of St. Katharine of Siena, in Edinburgh; used, in post-Reformation times, as a hospital for victims of the plague.
