Cachet, n. Also: catchett. [F. cachet. Cf. Caschet.] A stamp for impressing a signature on a document. 1600-1610 Melvill 205.
Cersing his coffers, [he] finds divers letters and blankes … with thair cachets, signets, etc. a1639 Spotsw. Hist. (1677) 193.
She had appointed, in stead of his hand, a cachet to be used in the signing of letters 1661 Reg. Privy C. 3 Ser. I. 15.
