Chose, Chois, v. Also: choys(e. [ME. chose, repr. OE. ceósan, variant of céosan Chese v.] tr. To choose, select.Properly a variant of Chuse v. with o, oi = u, ui, but occasional rhymes indicate ō as in the noun and adj., and the later examples of choise, which is common after 1640, may have had the English diphthong. Cf. Choice v.(a) a1400 Leg. S. xl. 256.
