Distrenȝe, -treinȝe, -trinȝe, v. Also: dystrenȝe, distrenȝhe, -ȝie, -eȝe, destrenȝe, destreingȝe; distreynȝe, -treinȝhe, -ȝie; distrengȝie, -treyngȝie, -treingȝee, -tringȝe; distrinȝie. [Normal Sc. variant of distreigne: see Distreignev.]
1. tr. To constrain or compel (one) to do something. 1375 Barb. iv. 231.
