1. A field.Examples in early place-names are Wytefeld (c 1200), Westfeld (1294), Prestfeld (1327), Sefeld, Wodefeld (1358); also Lyllochefylde (1293), Hwytfyld (1333).(a) 1375 Barb. xvi. 68.
