Jadgear, -er, Jedger, n. [f. Jadge v. Cf. OF. jaugeur and Gagear, Gaugear.] A gauger, in the sense of the verb; espec., one whose function was to verify that the barrels of fish were of the standard size. 1584 Edinb. B. Rec. IV. 343.
[They are appointed] jadgearis, wrakeris, visitouris and markeris of the haill hering and quhyte fische 1593 Conv. Burghs I. 413.
