Killogie, n. Also: killogy(e, -oggy, -ogé; kill logie, logy. [Of obscure derivation: appar. a formation on Kill n.1 with a suffix -ogie or -logie; the latter is also found separately as Logie n. Usu. written as one word but latterly sometimes as two.] The lower portion of a corn- or malt-kiln, underneath the drying chamber (see the note on Kill n.1 1). Also attrib. with dur.For the sense, cf. later Eng. (Shropshire) killoddy-pit a hole in the ground containing a fire, over which, in hemp-dressing, hemp-stalks were dried, and later Sc. dial. kiln-pot (lit. ‘kilnpit’, i.e. = killogy).(a) 15.. K.
