c. spec. A ‘lordship of Parliament’, a fee which carries with it the dignity of a ‘lord of Parliament’ (see Lord n. 8, 21 and 22 a) as distinguished from a mere ‘lairdship’ (Lardschip n.). Also temporal lordschip. see Lord n. 9.Apart from the single occurrence in 1445 of dominium, which is appar. intended in this sense. but cf. a above, this usage appears not to occur till 1581. 1445 Acts II. 59/1.]
