Maner, n.1 Also: -ere, -eir(e, -eyr, -ir, -yr, -ie(i)r, -ar(e, manner, mainer, mainnar, mayner, mene(i)r, -or, mendir. [ME. maner(e (a 1200), manyer (Chaucer), manar (15th c.), e.m.E. manner, AF. manere, OF. maniere.]In verse, esp. in rhyme, generally taking the stress on the second syllable.
1. The way in which something is done or takes place, mode of procedure, method, fashion.Chiefly in phrases with prepositions.
