Nede, Neid, n. Also: ned, neide, neyd(e, need(e, nead(e. [ME. ned, ME. and e.m.E. nede, need (ME. also nyede, nud(e, node, noede), OE. níed (nýd, néd) and néod (and also néad).] Need.In earlier verse rhyming with bede (prayer), dede, deid (deed), drede (dread), med (reward), seide (seed), spede (speed), wede (garment), yhede p.t., also manheid, etc.: see the examples given below and W. Heuser in Anglia XVIII. 114–16, 123–4, XIX. 335. In later verse (e.g. Maitland, Montgomery) also rhyming with dede, deid (dead), fede, feid n., procede, remede and leede n.
