Nerrest, Narrest, superl. a., adv. and prep. Also: nerreste, -ast(e, nerres; narrast, -ist, narerest, narest, nariest, nairest. [ME. nerrest (1340), superl. of Ner a. and Ner adv. Cf. also Nerest.]In some instances the distinction between the forms in nerrand narr- must depend on arbitrary editorial decisions as to the treatment of the MS. abbreviation for -er or -ar.
