Padill, Paidill, n.¹ Also: paidd-; ped-, pedd-, peadand -le, -ell. [e.m.E. and ME. padell (1407), paddle (1560) a small spade-like implement with a long handle, of unknown ulterior origin. Cf. Patil(l n.] A tool for scraping earth, mud, etc. from a hard surface.(a) 1556–7 Edinb. Old Acc. II. 69.
