Pais-penny, -penné, n. Also: pas-. (Appar., one of a number of coins found as treasure: cf. hurd pennyis, Hurd n. 1 attrib. Though the sense suggests a relationship with Pose n., the change of vowel is inexplicable.) — 1493 Justiciary Rec. MS. (Reg. H.) f. 14.
