Pendicle, -ikil(l, -akill, n. Also: -i(c)kle, -ykill, -icl, -ickell, -ickile, -icule; -acle, -akle, -akyll; -ekle, -ec(k)le, -ekyll; and peindicule, penticle. [Med. L. (Brit.) pendiculum (1250), pendeculium (c 1450) tassel, padlock (c 1336), parchment strip for a seal (1391), (Sc.) appurtenance (1481), penticulum pendant (ornament) (1300), tail of mitre (1295), penticulus adj. dependent (1267), f. 1. A subsidiary, dependency or adjunct of anything; an appurtenance or appendage.
