Pundar, Ponder, n.² [ON pundari a steelyard, f. pund Pund n.¹ I: cf. the appar. sim. formed late ME punder, pounder, pondre, recorded only c1425–c1440, the English ‘auncel’, appar. because it had a knob of a pound weight as a counterpoise.] In Orkney: A pundlar. = Pundlar n.². — 1564–5 Rec.
