Quarter-clift, n. [Quarter B 1; Clift n.2. Cf. north. e.m.E. quarter-cliffe (1641) id.] A piece of wood obtained by cleaving or sawing a lot lengthwise in four; a piece of quartered wood. — 1538–9 Treas. Acc. VII 212.
