ME quar(e)-ever (Cursor M.), midl. and south. where ever(e (Wyclif), e.m.E. where ever, ere, as compound rel., also ME ware evere (Layamon), late ME wher evyr (c1435), OE hwǽr … ǽfre, as interrog. ‘where on earth?’ Chiefly written as two words.]Also quhare ever that.
