Quiting, Quyting, Quitting, vbl. n. Also: qwiting, quytane. a. Clearing oneself of a charge (Quite v. 9 a); clearing one's cattle by compurgatory oath (Quite v. 9 b). b. Quyting out, furtht quitting, recovering (land) from mortgage, attachment, etc., by repayment; redemption (Quite-out v.). = Outquiting vbl. n. c. Giving up, relinquishing, a post, a claim, etc. (Quite v. 14, 16). d. Ceasing to adhere to or to practise (a religious faith) (Quite v. 12).a. c1500 Barounis Lawis fol. 7b.
