(Rindale,) Rindaill, Ryndale, -daill, adv. and n. Also: rynddayll; roundell; rundal, -daill. [Rin v.1 (as in Rin-rig) and Dale n.2 See also Rendale.] Rundale. ‘Runrig is the term applied to the holding of alternate rigs. Rundale is used of the same kind of holding in larger parcels. The usual practice was to hold the croft land in runrig, the outfield in rundale and the pasturage in common.’ David Murray Early Burgh Organisation in Scotland; as illustrated in the history of Glasgow and some of the neighbouring burghs I (1924) 114 n.
