Story, Storie, n.1 Also: storye, storrie, store, stoury. Pl. also storysse. [ME and e.m.E. storie (Ancr. R.), store, stori (both Cursor M.), story(e (Manning), AF estorie, OF estoire (both OED), f. as Historie n.]

1. A factual or allegedly factual account of persons and events in the (chiefly, remote) past; a historical or quasi-historical narrative.Freq., auld (auncient) stories. Also const. of or possess., and in parenthetic clauses with as.(1) 1375 Barb. i 3, 13.
