Wan-, prefix. Also: wane-, van(e, vayn-, want-. [OE wan-, wǫn-, f. as Wan(e adj., MLG, MDu. wan-] Prefixed to nouns, (participial) adjectives and verbs, expressing negation. For examples see below. Cf. On- prefix1 and Un- prefix1.
