COVE, v.1 To butt, to rub. Found only as pr.p.Sc. 1826 Wilson Noctes Amb. (1855) I. 139:
Calves wi' their tails up, and covin wi' their buddin foreheads, and funkin wi' their hind-legs, till they're breathess on the knowe.

[Phs. variant of Goave, q.v., to toss the head from side to side.]
