And bare-foot lasses . . . Come tripping o'er the roads with jocund pace, Gay as May-morning, tidy, gim, and clean.

[O.Sc. has gym, id., from 1513. Phs. the same as Jimp, adj., adv., v.2, q.v., with dropped final p.]
