1. A great-grandfather (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., grencher, 1914 Angus Gl., -sher).Mry. 1806 R. Jamieson Ballads I. 292:
His gransher, his gutsher, his daddie.

2. A man of grandfatherly aspect, an old man.Fif. 1827 W. Tennant Papistry Storm'd 10:
Auld grandshers at their doors sat beikin, While younksters . . . Gaed paidlin'.
