GUTTY-PERKY, n. Sc. form of Eng. gutta-percha (n.Sc., Ags., Fif., Lth., Ayr., Slk., Uls. 1955). Used attrib. with ba', a golf ball made of solid gutta-percha. Cf. Gutta, Guttie, n.2wm.Sc. 1931 Gsw. Herald (14 Feb.):
A haundfu' o' white-painted gowf ba's wi' a ticket, “Gutty-perky ba's for sale.”
