JOLE, n. Also jull; djoll (Jak.). A clumsy lump, a thick heavy piece of wood, a chunk of meat; “anything similarly clumsy” (Sh. 1914 Angus Gl.). [tʃɔl]Ork. 1893 Sc. Antiquary VIII. 57:
Wi' joles of flesh, fuman cogs, An' wallie horns o' blud-reed wine.Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928):
A djoll o' a ox, a stubby ox, a djoll o' wood, a shapeless piece of wood.
