PYNE-PIG, n.comb. A jar or other container for small coins laid past as savings, e.g. a child's savings bank. The word seems later to have been corrupted to pint-pig (see s.v. Pint, Combs. 2.).Abd. c.1850 Mod. Sc. Poets (Edwards 1881) II. 45:
[Why] keep your Savings' pyne-pig toom O' white or yellow?
