SCALDACHAN, n. Also scall-. A nestling, a young unfeathered chick (Arg. 1936 L. McInnes S. Kintyre 12, scallachan). [′skɑldəxən]Arg. c.1850 in L. McInnes Dial. S. Kintyre (1936) 30:
For like a sparrow's scaldachan I'm gosping night and day.
