-TIE, suff. Also -ta, -to; -tith. Sc. variants of Eng. -ty, in words of Romance orig. See Bountith, Daintith, dainta, dinto s.v. Dint, n.1, puirta, Puirtith. The suff. has also been added to a Germanic root in sweirtie, sweerta s.v. Sweir, adj.
