STREEK, v.2, n.2 [strik]

I. v. To stroke, draw one's hand gently over (Uls. 1953 Traynor). Now only dial. in Eng.

II. n. The act of stroking, a stroke (Traynor).

[N.E.D. compares O.N. strjúka, to stroke, but there may have been confusion with Eng. streak, a stroke, line, to make strokes on. Cf. sim. confusion under Straik.]
