Pluffing, vbl. n. [Cf. Pluff n., also the later dial. pluff to discharge a gun (1826).] a. The action of blowing out smoke. Pluffing of reeke, smoking a pipe. b. The action of shooting with a hand-gun. Pluffing out, putting out (an eye) by shooting. —1629 Boyd Last B. xlviii.
