Scots Word Sponsorship
Sponsorship of a specially chosen Scots word is a unique, personal way to say Happy Birthday, Congratulations or Thank You. In return for a donation (we suggest £25), we will send you a personalised Certificate of Sponsorship with additional information about your chosen word’s usage from the earliest records of Scots to the present day.
To order your certificate, send the following information to info@dsl.ac.uk.
- Your chosen word or phrase
- The name of the recipient (as it should appear on the certificate)
- Any personal message you would like added to the certificate (optional; maximum 12 words)
- Do you require a physical or digital certificate? (We can send physical certificates to UK addresses only. We can send digital copies in PDF form to any email address.)
- The postal or email address to which the certificate should be sent.
- Your Gift Aid declaration (if appropriate). Please allow us to reclaim an extra 25% on top of your donation by adding the following statement to your email:
I wish to Gift Aid this donation and any future donations to Dictionaries of the Scots Language. I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if in any year I pay less income and/or capital gains tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on that year’s donation it is my responsibility to pay the difference.
You can make payment by any of the methods mentioned here.
We aim to post physical certificates by Royal Mail first class post within 10 working days of receiving your application. For delivery times, please check with Royal Mail.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we will manage your personal information.
