Scots Word Sponsorship

Sponsorship of a specially chosen Scots word is a unique, personal way to say Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday, Thank You, Congratulations, or simply Thinking of You. In return for a donation (we suggest £20), we will send you a personalised Certificate of Sponsorship plus information from the Dictionary of the Scots Language about the word’s usage from the earliest records of Scots to the present day.

Simply email the following information to info@dsl.ac.uk:

Please note that we can only send physical certificates to UK addresses. We aim to post your certificate by Royal Mail 1st class post within 10 working days of receiving your application. For delivery times, please check with Royal Mail.

If you live outside of the UK and would like to sponsor a word, we can provide a digital copy of your personalised certificate in PDF form. Please make clear in your email that you wish to receive a digital copy. Follow all the same instructions above, replacing address with your own or the recipient’s email address.

You can make payment by any of the methods mentioned here. Money raised through word sponsorship helps us continue to document the vocabulary of Scots from its earliest records to the present day.

** Please allow us to reclaim an extra 25% on top of your donation by adding the following Gift Aid declaration to your email:

I wish to Gift Aid this donation (and any future donations) to Scottish Language Dictionaries. I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on my donation it will be my responsibility to pay any difference.
