Adill, Adyll, n. [OE. adela, represented in later Sc. by addle, adle, Northumb. eddle, south-w. Eng. dial. addle; cognate with MLG. adele, LG. adel, addel, iddel, N.Fris. edel, WFris. ael, etc.] Foul liquid, putrid or stagnant water (esp. that draining from a dunghill). 1513 Doug. iv. viii. 98.
