Adoun, adv. and prep. Also: adoune (adovne), adown. [ME. adoun, earlier adun, adune, ONhb. adūne, adūna, WS. of dūne ‘off the hill’: see Doun n. In Sc. apparently not surviving from ONhb. but adopted from Chaucerian English; numerous examples occur in Douglas's Æneid and Clariodus.]
