Ground-annual(l, -annuell, n. Also: -anwall. [Ground n. 2, Annual n. Cf. Grund-annuell.] ‘A perpetual yearly duty payable upon land, and made a real burden upon it either by constitution or reservation.’ 1551 Acts II. 490/1.
The ground annuall appeiris ay to be payit quha euer big the ground, and faiiȝeing thairof that the annuellar may recognosce the ground 1597 Skene Verb. S. s.v. Annuell.
[In Acts 1551] mention is made of ground annuell, few annuell, and top annuell, quhairof I have red nathing in onie vther place; and am incertaine quhat they do signifie 1681 Stair Instit. II. 268.
